Continuing education policies
The Science of Nutrition is offered as continuing education for fitness professionals. The course is listed as 5 hours. Successful completion of the quiz is necessary before credit is reported. Opening the lessons, or reading the guides on this website, is not enough.
Credit amounts published with the course
The course page lists these amounts:
- 5.0 American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
- 0.5 International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET)
- 0.5 National Association for Fitness Certification (NAFC)
- 2.5 National Council on Strength & Fitness (NCSF)
- 2.0 National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT)
- 5.0 National Strength Professionals Association (NSPA)
- 5.0 YMCA
Confirm that your organization still accepts these hours before you rely on them for renewal. Certifying bodies change their lists. The figures above are the ones published with this course. They are not a promise that your board will accept them on the day you renew.
Provider statements already published with this catalog
Fitness Learning Systems has stated that, as an IACET Authorized Provider, it offers CEUs for programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.
The American College of Sports Medicine’s Professional Education Committee certified that Fitness Learning Systems met the criteria for official ACSM Approved Provider status from 2015 through 2017, providership number 652725. That statement is about those years. ACSM approved providership of a program does not imply endorsement of the sponsor’s products or services.
If your organization is not on the list
The catalog has long noted that a course can still be worth buying when you use a petition. Many boards let a member submit an outside course and ask for credit. The published price of this course is $64.95, which is low enough that a petition is still practical if you do the paperwork yourself. Call customer service before you enroll and ask what completion record you will receive. The numbers are 888-221-1612 and 513-367-1251.
What learners are expected to do
- Finish the quiz. Partial progress is not a completion.
- Use the name and the credential number your organization already has on file.
- Keep your completion record. If a transcript question comes up later, customer service can look up the subscription.
- Treat the course as intermediate to advanced. No prior nutrition course is required, but the lessons assume you already coach or train clients.
Technical needs for opening the lessons are on the course requirements page.
